Life rarely goes as planned, but you don’t have to figure it out alone. Psychotherapy allows the therapist to join you in the process of identifying how you are feeling, exploring what might be giving rise to these feelings or patterns, and working with you to find a way forward in a way that you can feel confident in.
I specialize in working with people affected by medical diagnoses, such as cancer and chronic pain, as well as aging concerns. Psychotherapy can be helpful whether you or a loved one is facing a diagnosis, navigating transitions such as retirement, aging, or caring for an older parent. I especially enjoy working with issues of finding meaning and purpose and have supported clients as they confront their mortality and navigate end-of-life concerns. I also work with grief and loss, whether following the loss of a loved one or the losses that accompany illness and aging.
My approach to clinical work pulls from psychodynamic, existential, and meaning-centered theories, and I bring both insight and a sense of humor into the work. In addition to my clinical work, I am an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University for a class called Designing Your Life, where I help students explore identity, purpose, and the many lives we can create for ourselves. Whether in the classroom or the therapy room, I am interested in your story.
Before joining the practice, I worked at Cancer Wellness Center, where I provided individual, couples, and group counseling. In addition, I served as the Men’s Programming Specialist, where I took great pride in expanding mental health care services for men. I am currently also a Retreat Facilitator for Reel Recovery, a nonprofit organization that provides therapeutic fly-fishing retreats for men with cancer, free of charge.
At Lakeshore Psychotherapy Group, I see individuals and couples for counseling both in person and virtually. I am licensed in Illinois and can see clients residing in Florida through telehealth.
